Hail ye, good burghers of the state!

It is now near a hundred years since the Horde first appeared from the Endless Wastes, and overran the kingdoms of the Heartland and enslaved its peoples. Since then this heathen empire has spread its tentacles around the world, and threatens us today. To preserve our freedom great toil is required of all of us and great sacrifices must be made. Our small island kingdom is kept safe from our great enemy by the benevolence of the gods, by the royal fleet, and by the fortuitous discovery of a limitless source of energy soon after the heathen first appeard. Most of all we are kept safe by the virtue of our people, by your virtue, good burghers of the state!

Now the coasts of the world are patrolled by our fleets, and our brave soldiers selflessly protect the people of the world, wherever they can. Those we protect in turn help in our titanic struggle between good and evil. They gratefully provide us with the items that we need such as food, minerals, cloths and other trade goods, but they also gift us the precious items that now adorn our temples and the palaces of our people. Indeed many of those we protect have already converted to the worship of the true gods, especially as their children come here to be taught our superior way of living. Thus by protecting the world we protect ourselves, good burghers of the state!

As the secret of our great energy source lies at the heart of our survival, all men and women are charged to keep it safe. All must aid the officers of the state, whether they work out in the open or hidden in the dark tournament of shadows. We must all maintain our vigilance against the foreigner spy, the witch, the warlock and the traitor that would destroy us all. Keep your eye on the stranger on the road and the neighbour at your gate, good burghers of the state, for evil hides and danger lurks everywhere.

We must all toil, the farmer in the field, the worker in the shop, to support the dashing sailors and soldiers of the fleet, the artificers who arm them, the priests who intercede for us with the gods, and the lords who rule our nation so wisely. Only thus can we remain free and will our children be safe!
